About the Plant

Green Initiatives - Hybrid Power, Solar units

In line with our commitment to environmental sustainability, Thakur Industries has embarked on a significant green initiative. We are installing a hybrid Power Project featuring a 750 KW windmill and a 400 KW Solar unit, creating a total power capacity of 2.30 MW. The power generation is set to commence from October 2023, covering 80% of our enhanced electricity requirements.

The Beneficiation Advantage

Beneficiation is the key to enhancing the economic value of ores. Thakur Industries employs various beneficiation processes, including gravity separation, flotation, magnetic separation, and electrostatic separation. These processes result in a higher-grade ore concentrate and a waste stream, aligning with our commitment to efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Sustainable Water Management - Recirculating System

At Thakur Industries, our commitment to sustainable water management is deeply ingrained in our operations, where we conscientiously harness water from a network of existing and proposed bore wells within and outside the plant area. This ensures a reliable supply of water, with a focus on responsible utilization. Our makeup water system, designed to meet a daily requirement of 1430 m3, reflects our dedication to efficiency. Integral to our green initiatives, we employ advanced recirculating systems across the plant, minimizing water discharge and emphasizing conservation. By strategically integrating source, utilization, and recirculating systems, we strive to optimize our water processes, setting new standards in eco-friendly industrial practices and paving the way for a sustainable future.

Process and Stages of Production

Thakur Industries' iron ore beneficiation process focuses on increasing iron content from 52-55% Fe to a final product with 58% Fe or more. With an annual capacity of 28 lakhs tonnes, the wet processing involves stages like crushing, screening, sizing, grinding, and separation. The meticulously designed flow sheet includes advanced technologies such as High Gradient Magnetic Separators, Low-Intensity Magnetic Separators, and Hydro-Cyclones, ensuring the removal of impurities like silica and alumina, making the ore suitable for steel production in a cost-effective manner.

Environmental Protections

Thakur Industries prioritizes environmental protection in its operations. To address potential air, water, and soil pollutants from the beneficiation plant, the company implements pollution control equipment and monitoring systems. Dust control systems are in place to combat air pollution during various processes. Solid waste management involves selling tailings to palletization or cement plants, utilizing sewage water treatment plant residues as manure, and repurposing domestic organic waste for greenbelt development, aligning with the company's commitment to sustainable practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
